consultation project

Getting involved in your local community.
The Consultation Project supports local people to share their views, opinions and experiences about issues that affect them in their daily lives here in Kensington and Chelsea. ADKC is often approached by other organisations to find out the opinions of our members in a number of diverse areas.

So far local residents have given their opinions on the following:

  • The services run by the Borough (housing, transport, health, social services)
  • The needs of disabled parents.
  • The Kensington and Chelsea College and how their services can be improved to promote equality for disabled people.
  • How the Primary Care Trust (who provide some of the healthcare in the Borough) can promote equality for disabled people.

Why you should take part in consultations...

  • You might be involved in important decisions being made in the Borough that affect services you receive.
  • You can build your confidence and assertiveness
  • You'll meet new people
  • You can learn to take control of some of the issues that affect you and can challenge those in power.

You don't need any experience!
We are more interested in your views and ideas, so you don't need any past involvement or experience in consultation. All opinions and views are welcome and we'll support you if English is not your first language or if you have access issues.

We are looking for people who would like to share their experiences of disability, but also those who would like get involved in their local community and build up confidence speaking within a group. It's also a great way to meet people who may have had similar experiences to yourself.

If you want more information or want to take part in an event described above please call Kate Pieroudis, the Consultation Officer at ADKC on 0208 960 8888.
