the lifelong learning project

The Lifelong Learning Project supports, promotes and encourages learning for people of all ages in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

If you would like to learn a new skill, find a new interest or search for a course or a job, the Lifelong Learning project can you the following services:

  • Information, advice and guidance on education and employment issues
  • Help you find the right course
  • Advice about money and study and assistance in finding sources of funds to support learning
  • Negotiation with education providers to make sure their courses and facilities meet your access needs
  • Information about specialist equipment
  • Provide advocacy and support for self advocacy if difficulties arise in the education or employment field
  • Set you up with a volunteer to act as an enabler in your class

If you are an education provider in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the Lifelong Learning Project can:

  • Advise you about making your premises and courses and accessible for disabled people
  • Give you information about sources of Access Equipment
  • Provide you with Disability Equality Training

The ADKC centre is also equipped with a fully accessible study space equipped with 10 computers connected to the Internet. We also provide a range of specialist equipment such as magnification and speech aided computer software, a Hearing Aid Induction Loop and specialist computer hardware (such as keyboards) for increased motor control and visibility.

Our computers are available for use by all our members in our Internet Café sessions, which take place on Wednesday afternoons between 1 and 4 pm.

The Lifelong Learning Project and the ADKC centre are currently running the following class:

  • A Computer Class which focuses on basic computing skills and familiarising students with using the internet and email and getting them set up with their own email account. A range of specialist equipment makes the class accessible for all students

There are plans to run more courses in the near future. Please contact the Lifelong Learning project if you have any suggestions about classes you would be interested in or skills you would like to develop.
