more about volunteering...

one-to-one volunteers

The volunteer co-ordinator receives requests for one-to-one support from members of ADKC. After meeting with the member to discuss their needs and what they would like to do with the volunteer, the co-ordinator will carefully choose a volunteer who will enjoy working with the member and will be able to meet their requirements. There will then be an introductory meeting with the member, the volunteer and the Volunteer Co-ordinator which will give everyone a chance to get to know each other, clarify expectations and boundaries and discuss any queries with the Volunteer Co-ordinator.

If the introductory meeting goes well and everyone is happy with the situation, then the volunteer and member can get started. The Volunteer Co-ordinator will be aware of these arrangements and will continue to oversee meetings between the volunteer and the member and review how things are getting on regularly. Both the volunteer and the member can contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator at any time if they wish to raise any issue or concerns.

help service volunteers

Members may contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator if they need assistance with a one-off practical task such as DIY or a single visit out for a specific reason. If the request is for something like gardening or painting and decorating, which is a bit more complicated and may take longer, the Volunteer Co-ordinator will assess the work which is involved, the length of time and the number of people required to carry it out before appointing volunteers.

A Health and Safety Risk Assessment will be carried out to make sure that the volunteer or the member don't take any unnecessary risks or are in danger in any way. The volunteer will be aware of exactly what the job entails before a time and date is arranged.
